TATA HARPER Resurfacing Mask // VINTNER'S DAUGHTER Active Botanical Serum

One of the areas in my life that I've really invested in lately is my skin care. I've been pretty anti-sun since right after college mostly for health purposes- I've had tons of precancerous spots removed. But I was also hyper aware (thanks to a great dermatologist) of how much over exposing our skin to the sun ages us. As much as I love feeling the heat of the sun on my face and body, I would love to age as naturally as possible (for as long as I possibly can atleast- not against botox here :) 

My favorite thing to do these days is test out new beauty products. I try to stick with natural, organic and/or products free of toxins as often as I can but there are still some products of mine that I've used for years that I just can't seem to ditch. Mostly makeup products. I've also started treating myself to Dermaplaning- a skin treatment that removes dead skin cells and "peach fuzz" from your face by basically shaving it with a surgical scalpel. Sounds kind of scary and gross but it's not I swear. And I promise to have a post up about Dermaplaning soon but I want to get one more treatment under my belt before I give my opinion! 

Kaitlin and I both love skincare and beauty products- she did an awesome roundup last month- and we are excited to start sharing some more favorites with you here on the blog! Up first are my two can't live without products. 

• VINTNER'S DAUGHTER:: yes, I hopped on the Vintner's Daughter bandwagon and no, I have no intention of getting off. I was totally against loving this serum, mostly because it was ridiculously expensive but I kept hearing only amazing things and when I went to get my first Dermaplaning treatment I decided to give it a try. It's one of Gwyneth Paltrow's favorite beauty products and I'll pretty much try anything and everything (mostly everything that is...) that GP sells. It's a face serum made up of 22 active botanicals that will brighten your complexion, enhance your skin's elasticity, reduce fine lines, moisturize, and helps to stimulate cellular turnover. I use it both in the morning and at night under my moisturizer. If I had to choose a close second for face oil it would be this one. And this one would come in at a close third.  

•  TATA HARPER RESURFACING MASK:: If I had to pick only two beauty products to use for the rest of my life it would be this mask and Vintner's Daughter. I use this mask about twice a week and it gives my skin a nice glow. It's also completely natural and free of fillers, toxins, synthetic chemicals, artificial colors and fragrances, and GMOs. I love almost everything by Tata Harper.

IRO Tee's & Mother Jeans

A tee and jeans is my numero uno, my top choice of an outfit. I know it's incredibly simple but it's what I feel best in. A great fitting pair of jeans ( currently into these ones) and a tee whether its a graphic tee or an IRO one, they all look great when styled correctly.

 

When I go simple with jeans and a tee I like to amp it up with a nice colored bag. I love this one and this one for less pricey options! Although I'm wearing pretty casual driving loafers here, I would totally throw on heels, tuck my tee in a little better and put on these hoops and voile I have my nighttime look ( probably just a few blocks over for dinner lol)! 



Jeans and a tee is incredibly versatile because of the accessories and shoes - you literally have endless options on how your look could turn out! Pairing my IRO tee and Mother jeans with my driving loafers (really love these) was a nice weekend look and perhaps I would have worn sneakers if it was Friday at work!

 

My tee from IRO is really unique with all the little holes and is definitely one of my "dressier" tees - I know that sounds confusing since it has holes in it but it isn't just your average tee. It was definitely pricier and the fabric is a really nice, slightly heavier linen blend. I also love the IRO tee in this color and this color. 

 

I truly believe you can never have enough jeans and tee's so that's why I linked my favorite IRO tee's and Mother jeans below! You can achieve this look at any price point but it does pay to invest in a few good tee's!

Italy Recap :: Part Two Positano / Capri

It's hard to put into words just how much Grant and I loved Le Sirenuse. The view's over looking Positano and the Mediterranean  were unbelievable. We both instantly lit up when we received our giant mermaid key to our room and were greeted with probably the best lemonade I've ever had. We tend to gravitate towards more "boutique" style hotels ( we frequent the Mark in New York for dinner and drinks) so we felt like Le Sirenuse was right up our alley.

At night we went downstairs to the infamous Champagne & Oyster bar before heading out to eat and with super trendy music playing in the background while soaking in the scenery ( sipping on a incredibly fresh cocktail with lemon of course) I did not want this week to come to an end.

 Le Sirenuse offered a stunning pool lined with lemon trees where we would spend parts of our days depending on what time our activities were. The first two days we had explored the town, bought my mom a bottle of Limón cello, drooled over the beautiful ceramics ( and bought not on purpose matching driving loafers!). They were a total steal only 40 Euro! We ate some of the best pizza I've ever had at Tre Sorelle ( adjacent to Chez Black where we had dinner) and then enjoyed more lemonade by the pool.

Pool Essentials! This Tarte spray was a game changer. I used it in flight, post flight, during our day trips and while lounging at the pool!! It kept my skin hydrated all day plus doubles as a primer. For a little cheek color I always carry a shade of Glossier's cloud paint. I chose to go with my newest one, beam. For SPF I love Baby Lips for lip protection which a lot of people forget about and Cerave zinc for my body. You can really just put it on once and you're set for the day. I normally burn if I don't reapply but the zinc kept me protected all day long!

Our third day in Positano we took a boat over to Nerano bay to eat lunch and lounge at Conca Del Sogno. Le Sirenuse actually offers a boat to take over to Nerano bay depending on weather, but you have to make sure you do this in advance since it fills up quickly! Grant and I had heard so many things about Conca we knew we had to make the trip. Nerano Bay is halfway between Positano and Capri and in a way it reminded me of Ravello. Small and tucked away you'd almost miss it! Conca Del Sogno did not disappoint. We had an amazing lunch ( linguine with lobster) and then grabbed two lounge chairs to put our stuff on before heading to the rocks and jumping into the Med for an afternoon swim. If you're heading to Positano, I highly recommend taking a boat over to Nerano Bay!

On our last day - you could say we saved the best for last, we took a private boat out and over to Capri. We got off at the main port and took a cab up to the square to walk around and explore. The majority of the island is pedestrian so it's a ton of walking and it can get pretty crowded in the afternoons so I recommend doing some exploring in the morning.

 After an unsuccessful shopping hunt ( my wallet has thanked me) we got back on the boat and circled around Capri to see the grottos and go for a swim. I can easily say this was one of the best days of my life! Going around this stunning island by boat and peaking inside colorful grottos ( yes colorful! there is a blue, an emerald, a white and red!) we drank prosecco and took in all of the natural beauty around us.

After our grotto swimming we headed back towards Positano and stopped in Nerano Bay again for lunch. This time we ate at La Scoglia which is famous for their zucchini pasta ( above). It may not sound too appetizing to some of you , it didn't to me but it was easily one of my favorite meals of the entire trip.

It was hard to leave but I know we will eventually be back. The week was filled with amazing food, wine, weather and sights. If anyone would like further recommendations on where we ate and more details on our hotels please feel free to email us!

Italy Recap Part One :: Ravello

My Italy vacation recap is finally here and I cannot wait to share a few of many photos with you all! I decided to split up my recap into two posts, so welcome to Part One:: Ravello! Grant and I had the best time along the Amalfi Coast and got to experience breathtaking views, a private cooking class (my mozzarella making skills were on point) and were lucky enough to stay in Ravello AND Positano. I have always wanted to go to the Amalfi Coast and right before our two year anniversary seemed like the perfect time.

We flew from JFK to Paris for a very quick layover and then continuing on to Naples. From Naples we had a car take us straight to Ravello. We wanted to do this location first since it's a bit higher up in the mountains and is a more quiet, relaxing spot vs. Positano. We both felt like Ravello was this hidden gem, tucked in the hills of the coast.

We stayed at Palazzo Avino for our time in Ravello and it was absolutely beautiful. The views overlooking the water and the rolling mountains was unlike anything we had ever seen. The hotel was located just steps away from the town square that had one long pathway lined with vines and flowers.

 What we loved most about Palazzo Avino was their beach club. Assuming the coast would be lined with "beach clubs" it actually wasn't so we felt lucky our hotel has this to offer. We took a 15 minute shuttle from our hotel down the mountain and spent the afternoon on our cliff side lounge chairs dipping in and out of the Mediterranean. It was a pretty incredible day!

Obviously we ate a ton of amazing food while in Ravello and decided to take a cooking class at Villa Maria where we also dined the night prior for dinner. We made mozzarella from scratch as well as eggplant pasta, fish with clams in a white wine garlic sauce and cut all of the vegetables right from the garden. It was a pretty intense class not having too many skills in the kitchen but it was a really fun bonding activity and we had a ton of laughs (mainly just looking at Grant in his apron!)

For our last night in Ravello we drove down the mountain to the town of Amalfi for dinner at Eolo followed by gelato. We did not have one bad meal in Ravello, we ate tons of fresh seafood and vegetables and of course sampled all the gelato flavors in this small town! Our favorite dinner in Ravello was at Cumpa Cosima - you actually feel like your in your Italian grandmother's home and she's whipping up an old family recipe. Our stuffed peppers and eggplant parmesan were unreal!
