Friday Favorites :: Statement Earrings

Probably one of my favorite things to shop for are statement earrings. Nothing completes an outfit like a bold earring. I actually took an "earring hiatus" this fall and winter and didn't buy any new pairs but once spring rolled around I knew I wanted to add a few colorful pairs to my jewelry box. Anthropologie has some of the best out there right now and they are all pretty reasonably priced. I bought this tassel pair back in March. You will see what I paired them with next week, so stay tuned! For a simpler statement, these opal hoops are absolutely gorgeous. I am a hoop girl and pretty much wear some sort of hoop earring every day. I actually saw these yesterday and really liked them but my mom thought they were too chunky! My most popular pick up are these that I bought during Shopbop's sale two weeks ago. They come in so many colors!

A Little Ruffle

TOP:: Zara (similar here in black & here in light blue) // JEANS:: Rag & Bone // BAG:: Gucci // SHOES::Valentino // EARRINGS:: Kitsch Open Stars ( similar here)

We are both absolutely obsessed with white tops! There is something about a simple, clean cut white top that makes an outfit. However, bell sleeves, ruffles, flares all the fun stuff at the cuff of a shirt is coming back and I for one am loving it!

This top from Zara ( which I also have in Lime - see our insta) is so cute with it's little flared sleeve and can be worn with jeans, trousers and even tucked into a skirt.

Maybe I am reverting back to my grammar school self, but I am obsessed with hearts and stars. Last weekend I wore Elizabeth & James heart earrings that are sadly sold out, but I'm really into star jewelry ( I love this necklace) and I also like these earrings!

The Gucci Soho bag is one of my favorites for a daytime or nighttime look. It comes in a few colors but I thought the periwinkle was a really beautiful color for Spring. It can be worn cross body or slung on the shoulder. I opted for the shoulder look since I was heading to dinner.

I bought these Valentino's a few years ago and I know kitten heels are socially unacceptable BUT I swear by Rockstud's in this heel height. I honestly don't think I would wear them half as much if it weren't for the lower heel. They are incredibly comfy, I could wear them all night and for me to say that is huge! Normally my feet are aching from heels after 20 minutes. The lower heel can make any outfit dressy or casual - I truly believe the lower heel is way more versatile and with this type of major splurge you want to get as much out of these babies as possible!

Wedding Ready

DRESS:: Club Monaco // EARRINGS:: ASHA // SHOES:: Rachel Roy, old (love these and these) // BAG:: Lauren Merkin, old (similar here and splurge here)

When I first spotted this dress from Club Monaco I knew I needed it. The color is one of my all time favorites (other than white of course) and thought it would be the perfect dress for all of the weddings I have coming up. I love the fitted bodice and the sheer tier of lace at the bottom. It also comes in a pretty "rose" color which is more of a light coral/peach shade.

I decided to wear this dress with one of my favorite pairs of earrings by ASHA. My sister gave these "Behati" earrings to all of her bridesmaids last year for her wedding and they have become one of my favorite pairs of earrings to date. And a huge bonus of course, they are SUPER light weight.

Friday Favorites :: Vanessa Mooney Astrid Earrings

It's finally Friday and I am more than ready for the weekend! This week was a little slow and the gloomy weather didn't help but what did get me through were my Shopbop purchases! One purchase in particular were the Vanessa Mooney Astrid earrings! I am so in love with them I already am eyeing this color for my next pair!

They are incredibly light and are actually longer and bigger than anticipated but I'm all about a statement piece. I chose the white because they will be a staple piece of mine this Spring and Summer plus I love a white earring against my brunette hair! The Astrid knots also come in similar beaded styles!

Stay tuned for a post next week - I will be styling them with an outfit this weekend!

Want to know one of our best kept secrets? We LOVE Ann Taylor and the Loft! Both are always promoting huge sales at a crazy markdown! Loft is having an extra 50% off all sale styles PLUS buy one top or sweater ( I have this lace up one) and get the next 50% off!  I tend to scoop up a lot from here during the Spring and Summer because they have a great selection of easy dresses to throw on for work, wide leg pants and jumpsuits and can we talk about these shoes!?

I actually went to Ann Taylor yesterday to try on these floral pants and they did not disappoint. Easy and breezy, I can wear them to work and play!

Spring Style

TOP:: Club Monaco // BAG:: Cult Gaia (back in stock but going FAST) // SHOES:: BP (and only $60) // JEANS:: J Brand (old but similar style here on sale)  // EARRINGS:: Jules Smith // SUNGLASSES:: Ray-Ban

If you didn't know the back story, you would probably think these pictures were taken on a carefree afternoon. It was actually the PERFECT spring day when Brooke and I snapped these photos. The weather was 70 and sunny and this location (thanks to Brooke) was super dreamy. But my morning was anything but perfect. Lila was still battling an ear infection and was super cranky, Charlie projectile spit up all over me seconds before I walked out the door (tried desperately to cover up spit up stains with my bag), and Hunter had a disastrous dentist appointment that probably shook me more than it shook him. Just a cleaning, but my boy hates the dentist and I really don't blame him. To say I was frazzled when I left the house is an understatement. I think I had about 15 minutes to "get ready" and head out the door. I actually threw on this top as I was walking out to my car. Sorry for the show, neighbors! But I swear the second I got in my car, rolled down the windows and started to drive I instantly relaxed (sorry kids). Nothing like feeling the sun for the first time after and LONG and cold winter. And of course, putting on this fun new top didn't hurt either!

Tuesday Shoesday :: Nicholas Kirkwood

It's been a while since we did a Tuesday Shoesday post but shoes are on the brain after visiting Saks this past weekend in Greenwich. The shoe department up there recently took over another building so it's basically walking into shoe heaven. The Arterior light fixtures and the blush velvet chairs made this space not only beautiful but light and airy and all about the shoes.

After circling the floor probably eight times, I kept coming back to the Nicholas Kirkwood section. The Beya leather loafers are now number one on my list to add to my closet for Spring. The pointy loafer is perfect for a day to night transition ( there is something about a pointed toe that can dress an outfit up) and the tiny gold accent on the heel made this loafer a standout for me. The Beya comes in leather and suede and a handful of colors.

But wait the Beya's get even better! They also come in MULES!! How stunning are these blush suede mules?!

Weekend Sales

We hope you are all having a nice weekend and a very happy Easter to those celebrating. We thought we would do a quick roundup of a great sale happening right now in case you have any eggstra (extra) time on your hands today. Loft is having a Cyber Spring sale with 50% (yes 50!) off of everything! Use code CYBER at check out. Here is what we love::

  • I love Loft for everyday staples. Since everyday life with kids is pretty messy, I like to wear things that wash easily and that I don't mind getting dirt and spit up on. I just purchased these tops (here, here and here) and at about $20 a piece I can guarantee they will be a huge part of my spring and summer uniform.
  • There is something about this beach skirt that I love. I'm hoping it won't be too long on me!
  • Maybe not the most exciting thing in the world but they have the best selection of no show socks. How cute are these?
  • I think everyone needs an easy black jumpsuit- and this one is $44!
  • You know I'm a sucker for a white top. Love this off the shoulder one and this one shoulder one!
Don't forget- today is the last day for the Shopbop sale!

Friday Favorites :: Last Day of Shopbop Sale

It's the last day of the Shopbop sale (are you sick of hearing about it yet?) and we thought we would do one last roundup of some favorites. I went back last night to search around and found so many amazing things I missed.

  • I'm going to buy this Mara Hoffman dress- I'm not usually a large print kind of person but the colors are so vibrant and pretty and I love that it's a midi dress and has adjustable straps.
  • I think the dress would look great with these earrings (they come in so many colors).
  • I tried this dress on at the Club Monaco store last week and came so close to buying it. It is the prettiest shade of blue and I love the off the shoulder look. I'll post a picture to our stories later if you are interested. Now that it's on sale I may just have to get it!
  • Speaking of Club Monaco- this shirt will be coming to the blog some time next week. The details on the sleeves are amazing!
  • Last but not least- how fun are these bangles? Loving the colors!
Ok, I'm off to celebrate my baby girl's 2nd birthday with some park and frozen yogurt action! Time needs to slow down...

Shopbop Big Event :: Round Two

Like Chrissy said in her post from yesterday we have been waiting patiently for Shopbop's Big Event! I for one have been keeping a close eye on a few items in my "hearts" and even when the sale launched I still couldn't make a decision!

Here is what I am loving..

These sandal's are a major style steal and go perfectly with pretty much everything! I especially love them with this dress to throw on for a hot day commuting to work, and this cover up for a beach look.

I love color. A bright dress with block heels, a pair of statement earrings that pop, a top with white jeans or even an iphone case... I am ALL about bright colors for Spring and Summer. Play around with a colors that compliment your skin tone and hair. Being a brunette, I love sunset colors ( pink, red, orange ).

FLORALS FOR SPRING

TOP:: BB Dakota (on sale with code)  // JEANS:: James Jeans // SHOES:: Rebecca Minkoff (on sale with code) // BAG:: Marie Turnor // EARRINGS:: Anthropologie // SUNGLASSES :: Ray-Ban

"Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking." Name that movie. Anyone? The Devil Wears Prada. That line by Meryl Streep was the first thing that came to mind when I bought this top. But I love a good floral print and this one by BB Dakota is feminine and beautiful and currently on major SALE. Shopbop's big sale is going on right now and this top is included. My shoes are also on sale although you can't really see them in the pictures! There are so many good things so be sure to check out our post from yesterday with all of our picks. Kaitlin will also be posting her picks a little bit later today so stay tuned!

Jeans have always been an issue for me. I'm only about 5' 2" so buying pants without having to hem them (or in my case just taking my scissor to them) is rare. Anthropologie has a pretty amazing roundup of some of my favorite denim styles by my favorite denim designers in PETITE sizes. Which means not having to spend extra money on getting my pants hemmed! This flared style by James Jeans has quickly become one of my favorite pairs of jeans. Anthro also wins in the jewelry department. I bought a few pairs of earrings there a few weeks ago and keep going back and adding more pairs to my cart. These are so lightweight and pretty!

Shopbop :: Big Event

Ok so we've been waiting oh so patiently for this one. Shopbop just kicked off their big event sale and we are so excited about it. You can take up to 25% off your purchase with code EVENT17. With the temperatures FINALLY warming up around here, we are dying to add some fun summer pieces to our closets! Here are a few things we think you need to check out::

  • RED:: I never really thought I was a "red" person but I'm completely drawn to it right now. This dress is so pretty and under $100. I have this off the shoulder top in the blue but the red is so beautiful- $64 with promo code. This is another top I recently purchased- such a fun twist on a white linen top.
  • STATEMENT EARRINGS:: Nothing spruces up an outfit like a pair of earrings. These ones are under $50 with promo code and are super cool. Love the geometric design. They are currently sitting in my cart :) How cute are these? They come in two pretty colors for summer and are under $40 with code!
  • PRETTY TOPS:: I'm a sucker for a pretty white top. This one is beautiful and breezy and I could totally see myself wearing it all summer. We love the ruffle detail on this one and that it's under $80!
  • WEDDING READY:: This dress is stunning and very feminine- love the details. I bought this dress a few weeks ago for a few events I have coming up. I bought the turquoise but loved the hot pink color as well.
Be sure to check back with us tomorrow and Friday for some more sale picks!

Glossier Review

I am a big researcher when it comes to skincare (if you don't read Into the Gloss, I highly recommend it!) I am always on the hunt for the best serums or face masks, and I love reading up on beauty insider tips.

Just like the weather changes with the season, as does our skin! We need some extra love in the Winter to lock in moisture and in the warmer months, we can lighten up our routine with buildable coverage. Glossier's priming moisturizer provides hydrating, buildable moisture that preps skin for makeup.

There are some products that I don't switch out when the seasons change. Some products I truly believe you ALWAYS need and one of those is rosewater spray. Any spray with rosewater simply helps take down the skins natural redness. I do suffer from natural redness, especially on my nose! The spray simply calms and soothes the face, also giving it a little thirst quenching pick me up. This is just one of Glossier's products I have come to love.

I first cleanse with M-61 Power cleanse, followed by the rosewater spray and then wait a few minutes for my face to calm down before applying moisturizer.

I am a huge advocate for bigger, bolder brows. I have tried almost every brow brush or pencil out there. After all of my trial and errors, I can confidently say that with the brow brushes are a lot better for achieving a fuller, natural looking brow opposed to a pencil.

I like brushing my brows slightly upwards and the Glossier Boy Brow, with it's tiny applicator does the trick. With a quick swipe on each side, it applies color evenly and gives your brows that little pop of rich color they need.

When I apply the Glossier Cloud Paint ( I have Puff and Haze) I squeeze no more than the size of a dime onto my index finger and then make three dots starting at the apple of my check to my temple. I then blend with my fingers and the small amount really goes a long way! You instantly have a really natural rosy look.

For nighttime I prefer to use the Cloud Paint in Haze, followed by the Glossier Haloscope in Quartz. The Haze has a deeper berry hue and the Puff more of a bubblegum pink so I prefer the richer one for nighttime. The Haloscope highlighter is super easy to apply since its a stick ( I find that liquid highlighters can often be overused) and it blends seamlessly with the Cloud Paint.

I absolutely love the Glossier priming "rich" moisturizer for nighttime. After cleansing, I apply a small amount of Sunday Riley's Luna Oil, followed by this buttery moisturizer. I have dry skin, especially in the colder months and even now when transitioning into Spring, I still need that extra oomph. I like to lock in as much moisture as I can while I sleep!
