The Days Are Long But The Years Are Short
Hello, hello, how are you? We are finally back in the swing of things over here and getting back into our groove and routine feels so good. I haven't been posting as much and I thought I'd fill you in as to why- and no, it's nothing groundbreaking or earth shattering- just life moving at a rapid pace!
I decided in December to take a bit of a hiatus from the blog and really soak up the holiday season with my family. I posted here and there but for the most part and up until now have been rather quiet. The saying "the days are long but the years are short" has never felt so relevant and real to me. It's as if I blink and my children are turning another year older. I want to hold on tightly to these years because there are no do-overs. If you don't know, I have four children (ages 6,4,3, &1) and I'm so incredibly lucky that I am able to stay home and care for them. It's something I don't ever take for granted and I truly cherish this time with them: the good, the bad, the chaotic, the messy, all of it. It isn't always easy and there are days when I want to pull my hair out, but I wouldn't change a thing.
I started this blog with one of my oldest friends ten-ish years ago and what started out as an after work hobby, transformed into a creative outlet that I cherished during those first few years of motherhood. My blog was something I always looked forward to working on during nap time. I loved posting sale round ups, finding the latest new lines, creating collages and most of all making connections with all of you. Fast forward to now and my hobby was no longer something I was doing for the fun of it but it had morphed into a full time job. A job that I just didn't have the time for. It was adding so much unneeded pressure in my every day life that was already filled to the brim. I thought about stopping the blog all together but ultimately decided there are too many aspects of it that I enjoy to completely give it up.
I'm going to get back to using this platform as my passion project, my just for fun hobby. Something I turn to when I need a little break from every day life. No expectations, no pressure. I plan to continue what I have been doing these past ten years: sharing what I love and why I love it. But I'm slowing it down and doing it on my own time and on my own terms.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this little update! Hope you are all having a happy and healthy start to the new year! Xo
