Kristen Tirney Art

This painting. Whenever I post something on Instagram and this painting is in the background, my inbox gets flooded with questions on where to find it. It has hands down been my most popular home decor piece on the blog! Our beautiful custom painting was done by artist Kristen Tirney who I came across totally by coincidence on Instagram. I loved her paintings and reached out to see if she would create something special for our new home.

Kristen and I chatted first on the phone for quite some time to talk about what I was looking for, colors I liked, my design aesthetic, sizing etc (and we chatted a ton about our kids, too! She has three adorable littles ones!) I knew I wanted a piece for our family room. As you can see in the photos, we had a huge space to fill in our builtins. I'm really big into calm and cool colors and wanted a piece of art that would tie the room together in a very soothing way. Kristen was extremely detail oriented and looked at samples of our wall paper and fabric swatches to make sure the colors she used complimented the rest of the room. She sent me pictures of my builtins with photoshopped pieces placed in it to get an idea of how various sizes and styles would look. Take a look below!

We ultimately decided on a 50 x 50 piece and Kristen got to work. She explained she would send me pictures of the completed piece and that I could have her change anything- add color, take it away etc. But she nailed it on the first try and my jaw honestly dropped when I saw the completed painting. It exceeded my expectations and looked absolutely amazing. This piece is the main attraction of our family room and I smile every time I catch a glimpse of it!

My mom loved Kristen's paintings so much as well that she had her create two custom pieces for her bedroom. See below!
