It definitely is a happier Monday in this house today. My husband is home from work and we plan on hanging with the kids all day and maybe even sneak away for an hour or two for an adult only lunch? We'll see...We had a pretty easy and low key weekend. We went out to dinner Saturday night with my sister-in-law and brother-in-law. Our plan was to head out to Bedford and eat at TRUCK (you know Mexican food is my fave) but the snow put a damper on our plans and we headed to Boxcar Cantina instead- which is honestly my favorite place for Mexican but we eat there so frequently we wanted to try something different. The food was obviously amazing and I think we inhaled a plate of nachos in under three minutes. We woke up Sunday morning to about 8+ inches of snow and the kids were ecstatic. They were so eager to get outside and play that we ended up leaving our house to go sledding at 8:30am. It was their first "real" sledding experience and we had a blast. It only lasted about 15 minutes and we were back home in dry clothes by 9:30.
On to my outfit... (scroll down)
I would say the bulk of my closet is made up of neutral pieces. Whites, creams, and greys are my go-to's, especially in the winter. However, when the warmer months roll around I like to add a few pops of color. I spotted this Madewell blanket scarf while browsing for dresses I could wear to a few weddings coming up. I was instantly drawn to the pops of color and thought it would be a really fun piece to add to a neutral outfit. I was planning on wearing my grey Vince slides that I always wear but last minute changed into these $9 flats I scored at Zara. It was a pretty dreary day outside when we shot this look (it was actually raining while we took these pictures-Julia is the best and suffered through it with me) and I loved the way these colors popped. This scarf is the perfect "blanket scarf." It's long enough to wear as a wrap but not too bulky to wear draped around your neck. It's incredibly soft and I think these colors will carry into next fall so well. Be prepared to see it again and again!
I also had been on the hunt for a cropped "cigarette" type jean. A pair I could wear with my sock booties or taller booties that didn't work well with skinny jeans. I bought these ones by J brand and love them. They have a bit of a higher waist and some stretch to them. I think they work great with flats as well. There are so many cute things coming out for spring and I wanted to share a few favorites I have with you at the bottom of this post! (PS: some cute dresses)
