I really struggled coming up with a post for yesterday. We have a ton of "content" left for the next few weeks but nothing was clicking for me. After staring at my computer screen for over an hour (and while also trying to watch This is Us), I decided I'd ditch our weekly "Friday Saturday Favorites" post and give a quick hello, especially to all of our new followers.

Kaitlin and I started this blog close to eight (maybe nine?) or so years ago. Well, actually, our blog was first called Roses & Rags, often times mistaken as Roses and Drags (not even kidding). We used to get emails from brands and companies that opened with Hi Roses and Drags! We changed our blog name a few years ago and haven't looked back since. Our blog has always been a creative outlet for me, something I have that's separate from my every day life as a stay at home mom and wife. I often get asked why I don't share more about my kids and husband on the blog and on Instagram and honestly it was just never part of the plan for me. I know now especially with Instagram stories, it's so easy to share and let people in on what's going on in our daily lives and it's an amazing way for people to connect. But personally, for me, it's just a little out of my comfort zone. I love to share little tidbits here and there but Kaitlin and I both want to keep the majority of this blog focused on fashion and style with a little bit of lifestyle posts sprinkled in every now and then.

I thought the easiest way to share a little bit about myself with everyone would be to give a few fun facts about me. Kaitlin will be posting hers next week!

1. I'm married to Chris which people always get a kick out of- Chris and Chrissy. We met freshman year at Boston College and started dating our junior year. We actually grew up fifteen minutes away from one another and realized we were at the same events and places at the same time but never crossed paths. We got married in July of 2012 at the same church my parents and my sisters got married in. The same church where I grew up and where I went to the parochial school across the street.

2. I have three littles ones: Hunter, Lila, and Charlie. We had all three in three and a half years and to say it's been crazy is an understatement.  (Charlie below)

3. I'm one of five children- fourth in line and I know it's so corny when people say "my siblings are my best friends" but for me it's the truth. I'm so close with my three sisters and my brother and truly don't know where I'd be without them. Well, I'd actually probably have a much larger wardrobe....My sisters take my things constantly!

4. I'm a sucker for a white top. I have more white tops in my closet than I know what to do with. A pretty white blouse and jeans= my go to outfit.

5. I've had the most random medical issues ever...I have Crohn's disease which runs on my mom's side of the family. My mom and one of my sisters has it. I also have/had a brain malformation- Arnold Chiari Malformation which I had surgery to correct when I was ten. I had debilitating headaches from it, so bad I couldn't get out of bed. I still struggle with headaches but they are much better than what they were.

6. On top of those medical issues, I had my first born, Hunter two months early. I developed HELLP Syndrome and Cholestasis of Pregnancy and was really sick leading up to his birth. I was in and out of the hospital when my body finally decided it was time. My blood pressure went through the roof and my water broke on it's own. He was a whopping 4lbs 9oz which was a pretty good size for being two months early. This was probably the most challenging and traumatizing experience I have ever been through. He stayed in the NICU for some time in a hospital in the city while I was living in the suburbs. I had some one from my family (usually my mom) drive me down to the hospital every morning where I'd spend the day with him. I left the hospital crying every night. My husband luckily worked right near the hospital and would go stay with him after I would leave.  I give all of the NICU parents out there all the credit in the world.

7. I love nothing more than a night in with my husband. On weekends when we don't have plans we always order takeout from our favorite Mexican Restaurant, Boxcar Cantina, put the kids to bed early and watch a movie.

8. Favorite foods:: anything and everything Mexican, mashed potatoes, and soups :)

9. I was a vegetarian for almost my entire life (protested eating meat at very young age) until I got pregnant with Hunter. In my first trimester I started craving steak and would eat it once a week. Once he was born I was back to being (mostly) vegetarian.

10. By the water is where I feel happiest. My best times are at the beach with my family and I'm counting down the days until we go to Florida next month. Nantucket is also our happy place. I've been going there every summer with my husband's family since we started dating. We're so lucky our kids are able to enjoy our favorite little island every summer now. Our oldest is constantly asking to go back even in the dead of winter. We'll be there a ton this summer and we cannot wait!
