I have been on quite the hunt for the perfect faux shearling jacket this Fall and prior years I was on the hunt for a suede one. WELL I got lucky this season because I found the perfect combination.Velvet's Ofelia Jacket is reversible and is SO cozy it's pretty hard to take off.
Another hard thing? Deciding which side to wear! The jacket did originally come with a suede belt but I am not a fan of belts on jackets or dresses ( it really depends but I am willing to try)! So anyways I did remove the belt - it has loops you can just snip right off.
The jacket also comes in black but I chose the tan because the faux shearling side was really unique with the two tones. The black is on sale here! I also chose the tan because that's just more of what I wear. This outfit is my usual weekend uniform - simple and cozy. This long sleeve waffle has honestly been one of my favorite Fall purchases. It's oversized and the waffle isn't thick so it can easily be worn under a jacket without feeling too stuffed in.
These booties have been in my closet for a few seasons, they have never failed me. I am guilty of owning them in two colors! Looking for a pair this Fall that will last? I love these and these!
After seeing BOTH sides of the jacket... which side are you on?!
Today's post could not be more perfect for this dreary Monday. This is the Hygge Cardiganand the name of it says it all. Not familiar with the term hygge? I wasn't either until I heard Caroline Fleming use it on Ladies of London (not embarrassed about that at all). Oxford Dictionaries defines hygge as "a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being." This sweater is all of that and more. It is the quintessential cozy cardigan and it honestly just makes me feel happy every time I put it on (which is almost every morning for school drop off). I featured it on stories a few weeks ago and it has hands down been one of our most asked about items. It just went live on Anthropologie's site which makes sharing it so much easier. It also comes in a darker charcoal color. I cannot recommend this sweater enough. Expect to experience daily hygge if you end up buying this! PS:: not trying to be sales-y at all but just love, love, loooove this cardigan. xo Chrissy
SWEATSHIRT :: Gap // JEANS :: J Brand // SNEAKERS :: Cole Haan // BAG:: YSL (love this little one)
I have about twenty seconds to get dressed in the morning. Not even kidding. We have to be out the door super early for school drop off and I very rarely have a chance to put on real clothes. If I don't throw on a pair of leggings, I usually go for jeans and a sweatshirt. I bought this sweatshirt from Gap (they have great sweats right now!) and I love the lace up sleeve detail. It comes in a cream color and black as well!
Not only do I live in my sweatshirts but I also live in sneakers. I rotate between a few different pairs (these Vince ones are one of them) and I recently scored these ones on major sale at Saks Off 5th (they have the best deals).
I've rounded up a ton of my favorite sweatshirts below for easy morning dressing!
When Grant and I first moved into this apartment two years ago this room was originally a nursery for twin boys. The walls were khaki with giraffe decals and as cute as that was I wanted to transform this room into a cozy den for us and I immediately knew I wanted to paint it a rich blue.
My nephew painted the work of art hanging above the nesting tables. I think showcasing children's art is really fun and to be honest I think this four year old's painting is pretty awesome compared to some of the super pricey pieces that are almost identical!
After deciding on the room color I went to Restoration Hardware to seek out some comfy couches and chairs. We picked these cream colored pieces that felt perfect for a den vibe. The couch is a queen sleeper and the two club chairs recline all the way back with a foot rest. A more acceptable looking lazy boy if you will! We are actually total home bodies so we moved one of the club chairs from its original corner by the nesting tables, and moved it so we both could have prime seating for our Ray Donovan binges. Obviously this chair goes right back to it's place when we have people over - but I chose to be totally honest in this post!
Need a cozy blanket? I love this faux sheepskin one!
Since the room is on the darker side, I wanted light furniture to compliment. After finding my cream pieces I went with the acrylic look for everything else. My coffee table and nesting tables were total steals from CB2. I have found a few great pieces from that store (including my champagne racks on the bar cart) - you CAN achieve the acrylic look for less! My end tables were more of a splurge from Jonathan Adler but I really liked the nickel details which went with the light fixtures.
The two velvet and one spotted pillows I found on Etsy! The other two I got from Serena & Lily and I thought playing with the spots with the solid and the pattern was really fun on the relatively neutral couch. The rug from One King's Lane is really durable so when we have people over to watch the Superbowl in here I'm not cringing the entire time. Rugs USA also has a ton and I mean a ton of options for insanely affordable prices - I highly recommend any den or play room rugs to come from here!
I think eventually I would love to blow up a giant picture from Africa to hang above our couch - there is one shot I got of three elephants that would be really beautiful here or even a Gray Malin shot of the Amalfi. I have a bad habit of wanting to change things up after a few months which is NOT a good habit to have but if I do change something I will make sure to document it!!
VEST :: J.Crew (25% off) // TOP :: Joie // JEANS :: J Brand (similar here) // BOOTS :: Vince (on sale!) // BAG:: Chanel
I never would consider myself a "navy person." If you've been following our blog for a while you probably know greys and whites are my colors of choice for just about everything. But there was something about this navy faux fur vest that I loved and when I popped into J. Crew a few weeks ago and saw it (and saw that it was on sale) I decided to give it a go. It has quickly become one of my favorite layering pieces. It's easy to throw over just about everything. Last week I paired it with grey denim and a grey sweater and I know I will wear this well into the winter.
J. Crew has a little sale going on right now- 25% off full price styles. They have so many cute things right now. I have this sweatshirt (you know I love my sweats) and I love this velvet tank.
Like the banner says above - no tricks JUST treats! Shopbop has added a ton of new styles to their sale category and we have rounded up our favorites. Sometimes going through a sale (whether it's online or in store) can be a little messy and confusing. To calm your anxiety and ours, we like to highlight some pieces for you as well as creating an easy to shop boutique!
I have been on the hunt for a few statement earrings to jazz up some outfits ( I wore these ones all summer) but wanted a few new pairs for the new season. Shashi has stylish plus affordable pieces like these earrings that I love in red and blue!
I am having a major love affair with jackets this season even though its still in the mid 70s in NYC! I have been eyeing so many bombers especially this one and this one. They are the perfect transition jacket into colder temps - still waiting!!
If you've been following our Instagram you would know that Chrissy and I have been attending quite the number of wedding's this past month. This is the gorgeous dress Chrissy wore to a wedding in California and this dress was her backup!
Whenever I think of Rebecca Taylor I think "ultra feminine". The designer nails the florals on her dresses and blouses and has always been a staple of mine for a more pulled together look than my usual tee's and jeans.
Her dresses are a favorite of mine to wear to work since they are work appropriate but since my office is casual, they are perfect for work and play. This one with booties is a great look for the office and for the weekend! I am wearing this dress to my friend's rehearsal dinner in two weeks - it's on super sale and I fell in love with the color!
Speaking of weekends..one of the few that I've actually had in the City this Fall, I strolled into Rebecca Taylor on Madison (way too close to my apartment it's quite dangerous with Vince, Intermix and Rebecca Taylor all within minutes from my door ) I wanted to investigate what La Vie was all about. WELL it's safe to say I've been missing out and am now a huge fan of La Vie. The little sister brand of Rebecca Taylor boasts a collection of casual, essential pieces suited for women to wear on the weekends BUT can be styled into a dressier look.
My first purchase was this blouse and I have received SO many compliments on it! It's really versatile and can be worn with jeans, a suede or leather skirt and pants ( I have these in white and navy). It's got me wanting to go back for a few more La Vie pieces..
