Finally Friday! It's the weekend before the holiday and it finally feels like summer has hit. The temperatures here in NYC have been steadily creeping up which makes it incredibly hard to even go for a walk outside.

Don't want sleeves? No problem. The muscle tee is the perfect top to throw on with your shorts or pants for a daytime or nighttime look. Don't let the name sway you into thinking about men in the 80s and 90s wearing tight muscle tees only to showcase their guns. The muscle tee got a major revamp. Beach towels have come a long way. My mom would always buy the classic striped ones (solely blue and white)! Only recently have beach towels become a summer accessory. Designers are coming out with graphic printed towels that make our summer trip to the beach a little more stylish. I also think a fun beach towel is a great gift for a friend's summer birthday or as a thank you gift if you were a guest at someone's beach house. Tropical Punch

Skimming through magazines while at the gym in the morning and seeing the trend on the streets, I've noticed that tropical prints are getting hotter. It was a huge look on the runways for many resort 2014 collections.

Think big leaves, bright florals and lots of colors. Just seeing tops or pants splashed with huge green banana leaves makes me want to escape to the Caribbean. Not only does this print come on clothing, but it also has been seen on décor and shoes!

Chambray

Whether it's a button down, or a pair of pants, I absolutely love chambray pieces. They are always super comfy, go with about every color of shorts or pants and are even cute paired with a white dress for work (I may be wearing a white dress with an unbuttoned chambray today).

Chambray is extremely versatile and can be worn every season. If you're wary of chambray pants, try a pair of shorts with a slouchy tee for a summer staple look. BUT I highly recommend my new Splendid chambray wide leg pants. They can be dressed up or down and are so cozy I could sleep in them. Check out our Chambray picks below - have fun with this piece!

Friday Favorites :: Distressed Is Best

I honestly can't tell you how many pairs of distressed denim I own. I stopped counting at 11. And yes, I wear every single pair I own. Some more than others. It's the one staple in my closet that I can wear all year long. My uniform: ripped jeans, white tee, ballet flats, and a statement necklace. Whether in the true blue form or distressed colored denim, to me the look never gets old. We've rounded up our favorite pairs below (this pair is on the top of my list.) Summer Essentials :: Makeup Must-haves

I definitely wouldn't call myself a makeup junkie but I do have a few go-to items that I cannot live without. A new favorite of mine and what I wear almost daily, even on days when I don't wear any makeup, is this CC cream. Gives me a smooth complexion and goes on really lightly. I've never really worn foundation but the few times I have, I just remember it feeling really cakey and thick. This CC cream is the exact opposite and almost feels like a light moisturizer. I'm big on concealer and love this one by Nars- I use the custard color.  

I'm a huge fan of lip gloss and might have a borderline obsession (I blame one of my college roommates-you know who you are). I love trying new shades and colors but always find myself going back to two of my favorites:: Nars Striptease and Dior  Angelique. 

The two keys for a sun-kissed glow: 1. A good self tanner- Dior is my absolute favorite. 2. A good bronzer-once again Dior is my personal preference. Also obsessed with this soft lights powder by Smashbox to give off a nice, dewey complexion.

Summer Style :: Everything Under $100

Yesterday I was lucky enough to have a couple of hours to myself and decided I'd head to the mall. I have been in serious need of some casual and easy "throw on" pieces that don't require too much thought and can withstand the messiness that comes with having a toddler (where did the time go?). I had three prerequisites for the clothes I would allow myself to try on::

1. Comfortable
2. Machine washable
3. Extremely budget friendly 

I followed these guidelines…for the most part and ended up finding some pretty great things. I have been looking for a daytime romper and ended up taking this one home. There is also a similar dress version that was 40% off…so I took that one home, too. (It also comes in a pants version that I love…next time).

This next one didn't meet the first two guidelines but definitely meets the third-love all the colors and the price tag is even better. I got the orange color.

I actually bought this top last week online but loved it so much that I went back and got it in a few more colors. Also picked up a pair of these while I was there!

Friday Favorites :: Summer Rompers

For The Home :: Accent Pillows

Since acquiring new pieces of art I have been wanting to change colors on my couch. Because my couch is cream and the rug is cecil, I am able to really play around with the colors of accent pillows and a throw blanket. My current pillows are grey and lime in large geometric prints. Being that these were the colors of my old pieces of art (which have been replaced by these from etsy) hanging in my dining alcove, I have decided to get a little more creative and am using my cream couch as a blank canvas. I love bright colors and prints so here's my roundup of throw pillows!
