Happy Monday everyone! We are back from our Fourth of July trip to Nantucket and had such a nice time. We spent most of our time at the beach and walking around town. Here's a quick rundown of what we did/where we went::
EAT:: My husband (Chris) and I were able to sneak away to two kid free dinners- one at Millie's and the other at The Chanticleer (thank you to my in-laws for babysitting!) Two restaurants at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Millie's is super casual and absolutely delicious "coastal" food (more like coastal Mexican food) and is hands down my favorite place to catch a quick bite. I'm pretty sure we've dined at Millie's every time we are on Nantucket. We usually bring the kids with us and eat outside at one of the picnic tables. We also ate at the Chanticleer in Sconset which not only has the most amazing food but the atmosphere is like something out of a book. Their garden is stunningly beautiful (I posted a pic over on my Instagram page) and the service is amazing. I had the best mocktail ever and finished off the meal with an amazing chocolate brownie parfait dessert.
SHOP:: One of my favorite things to do when we are on Nantucket is to stroll around town. Chris and I walked the kids around and got them muffins at the Bean. They loved exploring shops like the Sunken Ship and of course Lila loved checking out the little girl dresses at Erica Wilson. She walked away with a cute little coverup and some soft onesies for baby sister. As much as I love walking around town with the kids, I absolutely love strolling solo and had a blissful (sorry kids) hour and a half shopping kid free. My all time favorite boutique is CJ Laing. They always have the prettiest straw bags, earrings, and beachy dresses and coverups. I bought this dress by Pink City Prints that will be perfect for the remainder of my pregnancy and next summer as well. I actually spotted a non pregnant woman wearing it right after I purchased it and she was about my pre-pregnancy size so I know it will definitely work next summer. I ended up meeting up with Kaitlin and Grant at the very end of my leisurely stroll and we hit up another island favorite, Skinny Dip, where I bought a cute rattan canteen bag.
EXPLORE:: Every time I visit Nantucket I always end up visiting a spot on the island I had never seen before. Even though it's a small island there is so much to discover. I've been coming with Chris every summer for ten or eleven years (I've lost track) but he has been coming to Nantucket since he was a baby and knows and has seen way more than I have. After Chris and I ate at Chanticleer he took me over to the Sankaty Head Lighthouse where the sunset was unreal. We walked the bluffs a bit and took in the vast views of the ocean. A must see if you are visiting!
BEACH:: We always take the kids right down to Steps Beach (one of the prettiest spots in my opinion). It's the perfect spot for young kids to swim and play and not as crowded as Jetties. FYI it's called Steps Beach for a reason. Lots of steps...walking up is a workout!
I took a nice blog break last week but I'm back with some fun posts coming your way this week. I wanted to share some of my favorite beach essentials with you today and created a boutique for you below. A few highlights here::
- Cannot live without good coverups and this Coolchange one has been in heavy rotation. I own a ton by this brand and live for their easy, breezy style. I always go back to their pieces year after year.
- My sister (who is also pregnant) let me borrow this one piece of hers for my trip. A ton of my awful maternity swimsuits are tankinis (insert shocked emoji face here) and I find they really bother my c-section scar from my last pregnancies. This Kate Spade one piece is not maternity but actually has really good stretch to it. I wore it one size up from my usual size and it fit really well. I might order it in the white as well!
- I have been living in two pairs of slides. This pair by Steven and this pair from J.Crew that are currently on sale.
- And of course can't live without a good beach hat. I bought two this summer that have worked. This $19 steal that I found at Nordstrom and this beautiful one by Hat Attack.
