OVERHEAD LIGHT:: AERIN // DRAPES:: SCHUMACHER // NIGHTSTANDS:: WORLDS AWAY // PILLOWS:: SCHUMACHER & CUSTOM (similar here & here) // HEADBOARD:: CR LAINE
The first thing I chose to do in the master was to paint the room a really calming color, since it was previously a light blue and I knew I had wanted to change this in order to create the space I needed. I ended up mixing a white and a gray paint so it wasn’t too dark, but had just enough color in it so it wasn't white!
After painting the room I decided to look for drapes. I knew I wanted a pattern but nothing too overwhelming, as the space I was trying to create needed to be a calm one! I fell in love with the white and grey palm leaf fabric from Schumacher and also had it made into a bolster pillow. My other pillows are velvet custom to match the x benches and Mongolian lamb which I also have on my living room couch! Because this was a pretty big print, I designed the room around the drapes. I added the blush just for a hint of color but stuck to creams, grays and whites.
As for nightstands, I have always wanted to go BIG! When I saw these giant lacquer beauties, I decided to go for it. World's away makes beautiful pieces and they are costly but I know these nightstands will be with me for the long haul! The drawers are huge and I am not into clutter so I like to put my books and anything I need right before bed inside of the nightstand. I keep a few special photos in there as well.
After purchasing the large nightstands, I also chose to go with an extra tall headboard. CR Laine was my one stop shop for the extra height and although the grey is not perfect I will probably reupholster down the road ( again bad habit of always changing!)
My sconces are acrylic so I tied this in with my drapery rod. It’s from a company on Etsy called Lux Holdups over in Brooklyn that can make anything acrylic with nickel or gold hardware! I’m thinking of having custom kitchen hardware made for when I lacquer my cabinets. My favorite part of my bedroom is the Cartier Heart's piece that hangs above our x benches. This natural curiosities piece was the perfect addition to my bedroom. the frame is a floating acrylic that has a vintage Cartier playing card inside. It was a fun way to add a little love to the master bedroom without being too feminine!
I am thrilled with the way my bedroom came out and my next thing to cross off the bedroom list is a custom bed skirt! But my goal of soft, airy, and calm were achieved and I couldn't be happier with this space!
